Why Save Newmarket Post Office?

Newmarket Post Office Provides an INVALUABLE service to the local community. Everyday many customers use the post office for sending mail, collecting pensions/benefits and making bill payments.

Many of the valued customers are unable to make it into the town centre every day - something which WILL become necessary should the post office close. It is unreasonable to expect the eldery or infirm to travel in taxis which are expensive, and bus services which are also under scrutiny locally may not be suitable for all passengers.

People living on the South End of town will have nowhere to make postal enquiries or send parcels without having to trek into town. This catchment area covers Newmarket, Kenwick, St. Bernards, Monks Dyke and all the smaller off-roads and estates which have appeared over the years. The South end of town is the GROWING end of town these days, and needs services like a post-office to support it's residents.

Many local businesses will struggle with their mailing, having to incur parking charges every day (if you can park at all!), and having to wait for extended periods at what will be a much busier central post office.

Whilst the Post Office might not seem like an important part of peoples lives MANY people fail to see the importance of some things UNTIL they have gone. Even if you only use Newmarket Post Office a handful of times each year, those times would no longer be possible and the inconvienience of having to get into town will be certainly be a pain. If you use Newmarket Post Office every week or even every day then needless to say these proposed changes by the Post Office will certainly have a major impact on your lives.
